When should my newborn be photographed?

Newborns are best photographed before they are 20 days old.  98% of the newborns on this site were photographed within that  threshold.

Do you do all the posing that I see on your website?

Yes, every image you see on Josephine Photography's website, blog, social media (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest) pages are created from start to finish by the photographer, Jo.  While she does attend educational workshops on newborn posing and safety, she does not use any of those images taken there as a representation of her work because those images are usually styled and posed by the mentors/educators during the workshops.

Do you have all the props that I see in your photos available for use?

Every image you see with a hat, headband, bucket, basket, etc we have at the studio and is available to use!  When inquiring just let us know what you like.  However, some blankets or fabrics may have been retired due to wear and tear or didn't survive a session.  But if it a popular item, we always try to purchase another one!

How do I inquire about a session and when should I book?

You should reserve your session during the third trimester of your pregnancy to ensure availability.  We understand that babies may come early or late, so we will do our best accommodate and photograph your baby within the 20 days range.  Contact us by clicking on the contact link above or by clicking here.

Oh no!  My baby was born a couple of days ago, can you squeeze us in?

We *may* be able to, please contact us ASAP to see our availability. If we can, the session fee must be paid within 24 hours after invoiced or you will forfeit the reservation.

What happens after I pay the session fee?

Your session date is secured and you will get an email with a digital guide that will help prepare you for the session as well as give you an idea on what to expect.

How many images are produced in a session?  Do you edit the images and is there an extra charge?

A minimum of 25 images are produce (sometimes more!).  The images are edited and there is no extra charge.  We also include black & white with no extra charge (a total of 50 images)!

Can we bring family to the session?  If so, is there an additional charge?

Yes!  We encourage all family members to be in a photograph.  No, there is no additional charge.

Where will my newborn session take place?

Sessions take place at Jo's studio where it is set- up specifically for your baby's comfort as well as having access to her props (headbands, hats, wraps, buckets, etc), and backdrops.

Can you travel to me for my session?

Jo can travel, however she only accepts a few on-location newborn sessions during a calendar year with a travel fee.

I'm thinking about maternity pictures too.  Do you give a discount for both maternity and newborn sessions if purchased together?

We offer a lovely maternity and newborn session bundle.  Contact us by clicking here for more info.

When is the best time to schedule my maternity session?

We recommend between 32-37 weeks.

Do you offer wedding photography?

No, we only offer maternity and newborn sessions, we do not offer wedding but will gladly recommend some photographers in the area that do.  We focus our efforts mainly on newborns!

But I see family, wedding and engagement pictures on your Facebook, what gives?

Jo only accepts a small amount of family portraits every year so that she may focus on newborns. Her camera is an extension of herself and she is always photographing during her spare time.  She shares both client and personal work on her Facebook Page and Blog so, you probably saw her best friend's engagement session or her sister-in-law's wedding.  If you are interested in family portraits, send us an email for availability.  We also offer mini sessions throughout the year that we announce on our Blog, Facebook and Emails.  So, if you like our Facebook page or subscribe to our emails, you'll be one of the first to know!

I'm an hobbyist/aspiring photographer, do you offer any mentoring or classes?  I really love your work!

Awww...thank you for the compliment!  Unfortunately, Jo does not teach any classes or provide one-on-one mentoring.  At the moment she devotes most of her time to enriching her craft and creativity so that she can repeatedly exceed her client's expectations.
